Teacher Training

Overall time: 2 hours 30 minutes

What's it about?

Theme |How to manage money

We are offering free, in-house financial education teacher training for up to 500 primary schools over 2021-2022, to enable an even greater transformation to the financial education of children in those schools.

Our training includes:

  • 2.5 hour training for teachers (available online or face to face, depending on local restrictions and availability). Delivered by Young Money, training will include guidance on financial education in the primary curriculum, ideas on parental engagement and suggestions of how to use Money Heroes resources.
  • Online platform access – teachers can engage with resources and learning, and share activities with parents.
  • Further one-to-one, school-specific financial education mentoring support.
  • Hero asset delivery – teachers can ask to receive these following the training so they can implement ideas/initiatives straightaway.
  • On receipt of their completed evaluation, a certificate of recognition as a Money Heroes School will be given to each school.

We offer two types of training sessions

1.School specific teacher training sessions: we ask for a minimum of five members of staff to be present for this. You can request this to be delivered in-person or virtually.

2.Teacher training events: if you'd like to join our teacher training individually (not as a school) we have upcoming dates in 2022 available.

Criteria for the school specific session:

Preparation isn’t required for participants to join the session, but we would encourage you to push out the offer widely to your colleagues, to ensure that as many as possible within your school are brought into the financial education programme as our resources can be used across the curriculum, therefore for a school session we ask for a minimum of five members of staff to be present.

Teacher training events

If you would like to book your training individually and not as a school session please let us know, we have various teacher training events coming up in 2022 or we can pair you with another school in your region if they have also registered.

If you are attending individually we're pleased to offer you a space on our remote teacher training event taking place on Wednesday 12 January 2022 at 15:45 via Zoom.

SEN/SEND Schools

We do not exclude SEN/SEND schools from our Money Heroes teacher training and we will pair you with a facilitator who has relevant experience to support your school. However please note the training materials have been created to ensure all schools receive equal information and are not bespoke for each school. Upon completing your registration of interest form, do not hesitate to discuss with us if the training material meets your criteria to begin or continue financial education at your school.

The Money Heroes resources include 'suggestions for differentiation' and 'challenge activities' to ensure they are accessible and cater for pupils of different learning needs. Placing the age ranges on the resources shows progression from 3-11 years, though you may need to draw on ideas from other ages depending on the needs of your pupils.

If the Money Heroes teacher training is not suitable for your school’s needs, Young Money offers Secondary SEN teacher training which you may wish to explore.

Register your interest today and we will pair you with one of our expert facilitators to deliver impactful training at your school!
