Introduction

Sport can be a great way to teach financial education, particularly if it is associated with a local club. This activity explores the cost of items and value for money through ticket sales to matches. You might want to deliver ‘A Sporting Chance’ along with our ‘A Sporting Fan’ activity. Children will learn about budgeting, value for money and thinking carefully about how to use money through ticket prices at a sporting fixture.

This activity is part of our range of Money Heroes resources for children with special educational needs.

These resources have been adapted to be flexible for use in a range of settings and with children of varying abilities or special educational needs. Rather than using age groups or key stages, each activity has been given a difficulty level, based on children’s financial knowledge, skills and understanding. Practitioners should choose activities based on the financial capability level of the children they are working with.

This is an expert level activity – this level suits children who have a good level of financial education understanding and are ready to start developing their skills and knowledge further.
